Service Description:

Mean Annual Evapotranspiration (inches) spatial data raster.

ESA requested spatial evapotranspiration (ET) data from DWR and CIMIS. DWR provided reference evapotranspiration raster layers for every year from 2004-2024. Each raster has 365-366 bands to represent reference evapotranspiration for each day within that year. ESA summed these raster bands by year using a Python script. ESA then averaged the annual ET rasters using the ArcGIS Pro Raster Calculator tool to produce the mean annual evapotranspiration spatial data raster. The Coordinate Reference System of the DWR rasters and mean annual ET raster is NAD 1983 California (Teale) Albers (Meters) and the native cell size is 2000m. ESA reprojected the raster from NAD 1983 California (Teale) Albers (Meters) to NAD 1983 StatePlane California II FIPS 0402 (US Feet) using the Project Raster tool with bilinear interpolation resampling. The Project Raster tool was set to the default cell size conversion from meters to feet. ESA used the Raster Calculator tool in ArcGIS Pro to convert the reprojected mean annual ET raster from millimeters to inches. Finally, ESA clipped the California-wide raster to a boundary of Napa County with a 1-mile buffer using the Extract by Mask tool.
